From London, trains to Pembrokeshire run to Haverfordwest, and the usual way there is from London Paddington with one change at Carmarthen. GWR covers the long first stretch in about 3h 40m, with 12 stops, and Transport for Wales takes over at Carmarthen for the last 39 minutes to Haverfordwest. In all it takes about 4h 45m on a typical journey and 4h 36m on the quickest.
On the weekday timetable we checked, just three Paddington departures made this connection: 09:48, 11:48 and 17:48. Settle on one of them before anything else, because after the 11:48 the next we found was the 17:48, six hours later, and that one reaches Haverfordwest late in the evening. On a typical run the 09:48 gets in at about 14:33 and the 11:48 at about 16:33.
The change itself is not rushed. With 4h 19m spent on the two trains, a typical journey leaves about 26 minutes at Carmarthen between the GWR arrival and the Transport for Wales train on to Haverfordwest.
Outside those three times, the alternatives are slower and less direct. A train to Narberth followed by a bus took about 5h 01m from London at 06:48 and 12:48, and about 5h 50m at 06:00 and 10:00. Rail routes with two changes, at Newport and Whitland or at Newport and Clunderwen, took about 5h 44m and 6h 22m.
The ones worth knowing are the early starts via Narberth, at 06:00 and 06:48: either would put you in Pembrokeshire around midday, well before the 09:48 from Paddington gets in, at the cost of ending the trip on a bus.
Castle Square in Haverfordwest is about 700 metres from the station, around ten minutes on foot after the Carmarthen train arrives.
